This session will focus on how Writer’s Workshop empowers teachers to meet students’ linguistic needs by providing students in a mixed language classroom the opportunity to write and share about what is meaningful to them in a language of their choice. The get to see that both English and Spanish share equal value, and that they can employ both languages as they choose. As they orally translate their own work from Spanish to English or others’ work from English to Spanish, they begin to see themselves as experts.
